The head of the department, Prof. Dr. Fadel Sarhan Kazim, participated in the Muscat / Sultanate of Oman Oil and Energy Conference 2024, sponsored by the International Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), in cooperation with the Omani Ministry of Energy and Minerals, for the period 22-24/4/2024.

 

The Department of Oil and Gas Engineering/Graduate Follow-up Unit organized a free training course for graduates entitled: (Correspondence in the Petroleum Industry and Important Interview Questions), which was held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, and will last for two days, in the department’s conference hall, in the presence of the Follow-up Unit official, A.M. Rana Abbas Aziz, Director of the Laboratory Division, Dr. Jihad Hussein Al Juma, and a number of graduates and students. The course aimed to prepare graduates and students to build the skills required in companies after graduation. The course lectures for today were given by Senior Engineer Abdul Muhayman Abbas Daoud / Department of Reservoirs and Field Development / Ministry of Oil, Engineer Mahmoud Hisham / Badra Field, and Engineer Omar Khaled / East Baghdad Field.

 

Within the department’s cultural season, the Studies and Planning Division held a scientific lecture entitled: A new technique for analyzing the decline curve of fractured reservoirs based on the derivative of the natural flow rate, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in the Okaz Hall, in the presence of a number of teaching staff and associates.The preparatory committee was headed by the head of the branch, Prof. Imad Abdel Hussein Fakher, and the lecture was given by the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Fadel Sarhan Kazem, in which he spoke about a new technique for analyzing the decline curve of fractured reservoirs by presenting a method that provides high accuracy for predicting the performance of oil and gas wells. The unconventional reservoirs that contain multiple fractures show some effects on the accuracy of the production history by creating a mathematical model that calculates different parameters.

 

Members of the Department Council and officials of the Studies, Planning and Laboratories Divisions, headed by Prof. Dr. Fadel Sarhan Kazem, Head of the Department, held an electronic meeting via Google meet with the Head of the Department of Petroleum Geology at the Iranian Al-Khwarizmi University, Dr. Ali Mazaji, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in the Council Hall. Section.

The meeting discussed the prospects for academic and research cooperation and the possibility of exchanging scientific visits and holding conferences in various scientific fields.
